Dr. Belen D. Calingacion teaches Speech Communication and Performance Studies courses at the University of the Philippines Diliman. She served as the Chairperson of the Department of Speech Communication and Theatre Arts for four terms in 2004 to 2013 and in 2018 to 2021.Her artistic and scholarly involvement focuses on the applied theatre and performance in human crisis intervention. She has been engaged in projects that use creative arts approach for disaster related human crisis in intervention and as psycho-social support for incarcerated women and youth. 

She was part of the DOST-funded project LEAP (Learning English Application for Pinoys), a computer-based application that enhances language learning experience of Filipino users. She was also part of the DOST Tick Tock Tech Talk team who developed modular listening materials for an educational mobile application.
