DSCTA Faculty is GETSEA 2021 Fellow

DSCTA faculty John Carlo Villafuerte Pagunaling was recently awarded a Graduate Education and Training in Southeast Asian Studies (GETSEA) Fellowship in the course The Performing Arts in Southeast Asian History and Society offered by Supeena Insee Adler, Helen Rees, and Maureen Russell of the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).

Set to run from October 18 to November 22, 2021, the GETSEA special course encourages graduate students to explore and experience in their own work various Southeast Asian performing arts traditions. 


Mr. Pagunaling earned his BA Theatre Arts degree in 2017 at the University of the Philiippines Diliman, where he is currently enrolled in the MA in Theatre Arts program. He is a renowned theatre practitioner for set design, costume, and makeup. He has been a  recipient of 2014 and 2019 PHILSTAGE Gawad Buhay Outstanding Costume Design for PETA’s Rak of Aegis and The Sandbox Collective’s Himala the Musical.
