UP Diliman's University Council recently approved DSCTA's proposal to offer the country's first-ever Ph.D. in Performance Studies program.

The Department is the second unit from the College of Arts and Letters to be given the prestigious recognition from the NRCP. In 2018, Institute of Creative Writing was NRCP's Outstanding Institution for Humanities.

The NRCP Awards are given annually to all deserving members (Achievement Award), senior members (Member Emeritus), and partner institutions (Outstanding Institution) of the Council for their achievements in research, distinguished membership, and contributions to the growth and development of basic sciences, in various fields of natural and physical sciences, social sciences, arts and humanities.
