
STUDENT APPEALS TO GRADUATE WITH HONORS
During the registration period, all appeal letters must be printed and require a wet signature.

The steps to filing appeals to credit courses outside your curriculum are as follows:

Write the Appeal Letter

The STUDENT writes an appeal letter addressed to the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs

The appeal letter should include the following:
-
Semester and academic year being appealed
-
Detailed reason for the appeal. Please note that, as per the university rule, only three reasons are accepted for the appeal as per the Revised UP Code: Art. 414 as amended at 884th BOR: 31 March 1977:

Health
-
Employment
-
No more units to take in the curriculum
-

All letters must include the following attachments as proof:

For appeals due to health, a medical certificate dated within the semester under review

For appeals due to employment, an employment certificate with the employer’s contact details
-
For appeals due to no more units to take in the curriculum, a certificate of no courses left to take signed by the Program Head
-

Approved underloading form during the underloaded semester

Duly accomplished Program of Study/Curriculum checklist

Submit to Program Adviser
-
The student submits the appeal letter to their program adviser and requests to write a separate endorsement/justification letter of appeal in printed format. The program adviser’s letter must use the DSCTA letterhead and be endorsed through proper department channels.

Adviser Endorsement

The program adviser writes an endorsement/justification letter and secures the signature of the program head.

Program Head Review

The program head reviews the appeal and forwards it to the Academic Affairs Coordinator.

DSCTA Faculty Review and Decision

The Academic Affairs Coordinator reviews the appeal and forwards the letter to the DSCTA faculty members for approval or nonapproval through a referendum. If the DSCTA faculty approve the appeal, the Academic Affairs Coordinator signs and forwards the letter to the Administrative Officer for the DSCTA Chairperson's signature.

If the appeal is rejected, the program head informs the student and program adviser of the decision.

Notification of Result

​​The Administrative Officer informs the student if the letter is ready for pick-up.

Submission to the CAL Secretary’s Office

The student submits the signed appeal to the CAL Secretary’s Office.
