UP SPEECH COMMUNICATION ASSOCIATION
The University of the Philippines Speech Communication Association (UP SPECA) is a socio-academic, non-partisan, and non-sectarian organization founded in 2001 in the College of Arts and Letters, University of the Philippines Diliman.
Rooted in the desire to promote the significance and power of the discipline, UP SPECA remains the premier organization for Speech Communication majors and enthusiasts who aim to break barriers through communication with confidence, competence, and compassion.
UP SPECA’s flagship projects include the Speech Cup, a Speech Choir and Oral Interpretation competition for high school students; the Youth Speech Congress (YSC), an Extemporaneous Speaking and Idea Generation symposium; and SPECAroling, an annual outreach program. Beyond these cornerstone events, the organization also stages final production plays. In 2024, UP SPECA expanded its reach with its Final Production, a stage play titled Doon sa Barikada, granted funding by the OICA - UP Diliman. Additionally, UP SPECA offers workshops for both members and non-members, honing their skills in communication, hosting, and performance. The organization proudly supports a diverse roster of hosts and performers who contribute their talents to various events within and outside the university.
