DSCTA alumni share insights on building sustainable careers

The first installment of the DSCTA Career Talk held last May 4 featured two of our distinguished alumni Prof. Dave Centeno and Ms. Hazel Gutierrez-Marges. Attended by students from both the Speech Communication and Theatre Arts undergraduate programs, the talks offered advice for students preparing to enter the workforce.

Throughout the session, the speakers also shared lessons they gained over the course of their professional journeys. They also shared practical strategies for sustaining fruitful careers in the communication and performance industries.

"Building a Sustainable Career" is part of the 2026 DSCTA Career Talk series. The next session will be a required internship orientation for incoming Speech 195 and Theatre 112 students, and will take place on May 11, from 10:00am to 4:00pm.
