Students of the BA Speech Communication, BA Theatre Arts, and PhD Performance Studies programs of the UP Department of Speech Communication and Theatre Arts presented their research at the Pagsisiyasat Research Forum held last May 18, 2026.

This annual research forum is a platform to present scholarly and creative work accomplished by members of the UP DSCTA community. Participants also engaged with invited speakers and faculty reactors, who offered valuable insights and feedback on the presentations.

Our guest keynote speakers Dr. Pamela G. Cajilig and Asst. Prof. John Andrew Evangelista delivered presentations on affect and care in doing fieldwork. Their presentations were titled "Patchwork Ethnography: Rethinking the 'Field' in Island Disaster Research During the COVID-19 Pandemic" and "It's (Not) Just Emotions: Affective Queer Bodies in Ethnography," respectively.

Dr. Cajilig is a professorial lecturer at the UP College of Architecture, while Asst. Prof. Evangelista teaches at the UP Department of Sociology.

The event was free and open to the public. The full book of abstracts may be accessed at this link.
