Edited by Associate Professor Oscar T. Serquiña, Jr. and Assistant Professor Charles Erize P. Ladia, this special issue contains ten scholarly articles from faculty and alumni of the DSCTA. Its contents deploy theories and methods from rhetorical and performance studies in analyzing Philippine society, politics, and culture.

A substantial introduction from the editors, titled “Up and Down, Front and Back, Side to Side, and All Around: Contemporary Directions in Rhetorical and Performance Studies in the Philippines,” accompanies and frames the articles.

The DSCTA will formally launch this issue on 10 October 2025 during the 2025 Speech Communication Conference at the University of the Philippines Los Baños.
